The Aggie Eats Food Truck aims to fight food insecurity amongst UC Davis students through a “pay what you want” pricing model. Students can pay any amount without having to worry about the cost of their meals. The food is distributed at a various locations on campus on different days of the week. Once students receive their food, they can scan a QR code and pay as much as they want for their meals.

Currently, the Aggie Eats food truck displays their menu, location, and hours on their website. However, there are some issues with the website. Students have to click through several links to access different pieces of information (e.g. there is a separate link to view the menu on a Google Doc and if they want to go back and see the location, they have to go back to the website). There is also no visual representation or map displayed for the location of the food truck on a specific day.
In regards to the menu, the menu does not list the current availability of food options. Some menu options might be sold out while there is limited availability for others. The menu is also hosted on a Google Doc, which as stated earlier causes the menu to be decentralized the rest of the information on the Aggie Eats food truck website.
For payment options, when students scan the QR code on their meal they are taken to a separate website with an outdated UI to make their purchase, which is again decentralized from main Aggie Eats food truck website. This website does not take other payment methods (Apple Pay, PayPal, etc.).
In terms of hours of operation, if the Aggie Eats food truck needs to close due to school holidays or special events, there is no way of notifying students of those closures. It is usually the case a student goes to the location of the truck for that day and doesn’t realize the truck is closed until after checking the website.
